Guest notebook sketches by Arturo Toledo...minus the mannequin head and boxes.
Last week I realized I haven’t had someone else doodle in my notebook since college. I forgot how awesome it is to go back and admire other peoples artwork. Fond memories were sketched out in Physics class (sorry, Physics, I just wasn’t that in to you), notebooks traveling between desks. Each person adding something to what the last had drawn. Why did I stop brainstorming like that?!
I flew out to Seattle on February 1st, headed to my first TechReady. Excited to learn and chat with fellow MS employees but I had a few reservations. I might stick out (being a designer type), but how obvious would it be? I packed my Lenovo instead of the Mac, just to be safe. Thankfully one of my first classes, UI for Expression Blend & Design with Arturo Toledo, Product Manager for the UX platform and tools, was a fun introduction into using the Expression tools to design. This class is on Arturo’s blog with assets and video, btw. After talking to Arturo, I was impressed and relieved. Microsoft does hire people with art and design pumping through their viens.
