The strategy workbook for UX Intensive, Austin, TX
As history would dictate Adaptive Path did not disappoint but exceed my fairly high expectations when I attended the 4 day conference. Any search of Adaptive Path on the web would result in some great content, fascinating videos of passionate presentations at conferences, demos of their work, not to mention the multiple books written by almost every employee. So I wanted a lot from them.

What conference or event would be replete without a social web experience? AP uses Crowdvine and pimps it out with ‘friend’, ‘fan’ and ‘want to meet’ attributes to encourage face to face engagement and bridge the ‘strange faces’ gap. There is also a quick questionnaire that allows you to not only talk about what you would like to gain from the event but what you feel you are competent and not so competent at. Yeah, no one likes to admit that they stink and high-concept thinking or that they are awful at speaking to stakeholders, but it is almost a relief to get it off your heart.
I could go into every detail of how each day was, who spoke, what I was wearing… Let me just say that each day I was truly captivated, inspired and honored to be there. Daily topics; Strategy, Research, IA and Interaction each with 2 expert speakers. The activities designed to get the topic’s main concepts actualized were a highlight and a treat.
If you can afford it, go. If you can’t, sign up for a day. You won’t be sorry you did.
