Patrick O’Brien, online handle Transfatty, was an active part of the online design community until several years ago when his ALS symptoms became difficult to manage. Since then he has dedicated himself to making a feature length documentary about his personal experience with ALS, also referred to as Lou Gehrig’s disease. To support the film and Patrick’s cause, The Patrick O’Brien Foundation was formed. The community that once enjoyed his advice and friendship online has now come together to put on a benefit art show to raise money and awareness for Patrick. The details are not yet solidified, but B3S a.k.a. Butt3rscotch will hosting the benefit in Chicago around Memorial Day. I will post more details as they come in.

This year I decided, after seeing an outpouring of support for Patrick, that I would use this time to give back. Not just money but my time, artwork and some sweat, to not only help with the Partick O’Brien Foundation but help the design community in general. I am looking for suggestions from, you, the community to help me select projects and ways to give back.

Donate to Partick if you can!
